LABORIE CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF INNOVATION

CANADIAN ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS STORY NOW ONE OF THE WORLD’S FASTEST GROWING MEDTECH COMPANIES

Laborie Medical Technologies (“LABORIE”), a leading global developer and manufacturer of medical devices in the pelvic health and gastroenterology markets, is proud to celebrate 50 years of innovation and commitment to improving the lives of patients suffering from Urologic and Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders.

LABORIE was founded in Montreal in 1967 by Raymond Laborie. From the beginning, LABORIE had a deep passion for innovation. In 1984, LABORIE revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence by introducing the world’s first computerized urodynamics system, which provided a faster, more objective and accurate way to diagnose Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS). Today, the latest generation Aquarius™ is the urodynamic system preferred globally by the majority of teaching hospitals, academic centers and large physician practices.

“LABORIE is still driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of our founder-constantly working with our customers to create new diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for pelvic floor and GI disorders,” stated Brian Ellacott, LABORIE President and CEO. “This 50 year milestone is a testament to our customers’ and associates’ commitment to continuous innovation to improve patient outcomes.”

Today, LABORIE is an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of pelvic health and GI equipment and consumables. The company has grown organically and through 12 acquisitions in the past 4 years to transform into a global, fully-integrated medical device company.

LABORIE is supported by a workforce of over 420 associates worldwide and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada with manufacturing locations in Canada, United States, Switzerland and The Netherlands. The company has become one of Canada’s largest medical device manufacturers and among the fastest growing in the world.

In September 2016, LABORIE was the most recent addition to the Patricia Industries portfolio of growth companies, whose other healthcare holdings include Mölnlycke Health Care, Permobil, Aleris and BraunAbility. Patricia Industries, is a part of Investor AB, which was founded by the Wallenberg family a hundred years ago, and is a leading owner of high-quality, international companies.
